CORAZONES RADIANTES at El Pequeno Artista!

This year, Monica Heiligmann from Corazones Radiantes will operate a wonderful summer camp in Spanish at El Pequeno Artista, with transportation options from Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill and North Park Slope.

Camp information session: March 3rd, 6:30 to 8pm.

SUMMER PROGRAMS:

Weekly visits to pool and beach!

June 27th~July 1st: A FOREST OF FAIRIES & ELVES $425

We’ll listen to stories of mischievous elves and good fairies. We’ll walk through the forest, in search of exotic animals like the frogger-fly (a mix of frog and butterfly), or the parry-bug (parrot and ladybug), the centi-nake (centipede & snake), or the racodile (crocodile and rat). We’ll make puzzles, sculptures, books, necklaces and more! about this magical journey.

July 5~8 (4-day week): JOURNEY TO PHARAOH’S PARADISE $340

This week, we’ll make our own Egyptian robes, dress like mummies, and go fishing in the Nile. With a giant pair of dice, we’ll play games following the ‘map’ of a pyramid, sculpt our own sphinx and write in hieroglyphics.

July 11~15: ROMAN GLADIATORS IN THE LION PIT $425

Who were the gladiators? What did they do? When and where did they live? We will assemble the Roman Coliseum and ‘fight’ courageously in the lions’ pit. We’ll listen to and discuss Romulus and Remus story, and sculpt the she-wolf suckling the twins.

July 18~22: GREECE AND THE OLYMPIAN GODS $425

Let’s pack our suitcases! Traveling to the Aegean Sea, we will recreate the white houses facing the blue ocean. In Athens, we will build the Parthenon and Acropolis, and be Olympians, competing in the arena.

July 25~29: OF CASTLES, PRINCESSES, AND KNIGHTS $425

Under our seats, we’ll find envelopes with images of Medieval Castles and will build and paint a grand castle, with bridge and pit. We will hear stories of princesses trapped in castles and princes willing to rescue them. The story of Robin Hood will be the center of dramatic play.

August 1~5: EYES ON ANCIENT CHINA $425

The teacher will light incense and will ask for the children’s attention. Our eyes will take us to see the Great Wall of China, to the images of fireworks, acupuncture, rice crops, etc. We’ll make a Chinese hat and jacket. We’ll talk about the Chinese horoscope and the animals representing each year. Each child will sculpt the animal of the year they were born.

Our camp day is 9am to 3pm. Doors open for drop-off at 8:50.
